Getting Started with Anycast DNS

This article will guide you through getting started with Anycast DNS

The cloud platform provides access to our Anycast DNS cluster, free of charge, to all users. This allows you host as many DNS zones/domains with us as you like.

This is a way to host the zone/DNS records for your domain name, using a highly reliable, quick and geographically diverse cluster of servers.

What are your nameservers?

Our nameservers are as follows:

ns1.dynomesh.net.au
ns2.dynomesh.net.au
ns3.dynomesh.net.au
ns4.dynomesh.net.au

What is Anycast?

Simply put, it is a way of connecting users to the nearest DNS server to them, when they look up a domain. This means, when you use our DNS service, users all around the world will have low latencies when looking uo your domain - which means your pages will load faster.

How do I use it?

We will assume that you already own a domain name and that you would like to use the Serversaurus Cloud Platform to host its DNS.

Update the nameservers to use ns*.dynomesh.net.au

The first thing you need to do is to login to your domain name's registrar (the company that bills you anually/bi-annually for owning the domain name), and set the nameservers to those that are listed earlier in this article.

Examples of registrars are Serversaurus, NameCheap, CrazyDomains, GoDaddy, MelbourneIT.

Create the zone within the Cloud Dashboard

Log in to the dashboard, and then visit the DNS page.

You will be greeted with a page that contains your DNS zones (domains). Continue to create a zone by selecting Create DNS Zone.

Enter the domain name that you wish to host.

Fill in your domain, and select Submit.

Create and modify records

When managing your new zone, you will be greeted with a table representing your DNS records.

To create a record, select the + icon within the table of the record type you are trying to create.
