This article will guide you through transferring a domain to Serversaurus
Transferring your domain from your current registrar involves 3 steps, this guide will walk you through each step. Let's get started!
1. Prepare your domain for transfer
- Obtain your EPP Code/domain password - Log in to your console/control panel at your domain registrar and look for the EPP Code or domain password for your domain. Sometimes it isn't listed but there is a button to have it emailed to you.
- Turn off a Private Registration or Protection if applicable - These features replace your contact details with your domain registrar's on your domain registration. This feature is used so your details aren't publicly listed however this means the confirmation emails for the domain transfer will go to your registrar instead of you, where they will often be ignored.
- Ensure your domain is unlocked - If locked, the transfer cannot proceed. Log in to your console/control panel at your domain registrar and look for the section which shows whether the domain is locked or not, and unlock it.
2. Create your domain transfer order
Log in to your Serversaurus account. Click Domains at the top, then select Transfer Domains to us menu item. Enter your domain in the box, and the EPP code you have obtained. Click Add to Cart and proceed with the steps for payment. Once payment is received, the transfer process will start automatically.
3. Approve the transfer
Once you have created the transfer order, check your inbox for an email from your current registrar requesting verification of the transfer, the subject line may contain:
- Initial Authorization for Registrar Transfer
- Transfer of {your_domain_name}
- Domain Transfer Request for {your_domain_name}
- The transfer for {your_domain_name} requires your approval
The email should be received within 24 hours of requesting the transfer.
To approve the transfer, follow the verification step in the email. The verification step may be simply clicking on a link, or involve a few more steps, such as logging in to your console/control panel and approving the transfer.
Once it is approved, the transfer should proceed within 2 - 5 days. A transfer confirmation email will be received once the transfer succeeds.
